Welcome to Home of Vdub
Welcome to my little corner of the web. I am Vdub the Web Designer, Tech Evangelist, Father, Husband, Joomla Guru and All-Round-Nice-Guy.
Oh and i am colour blind too so while you are here you can learn all about what colour blindness really is, read the latest blogs (most of which is mindless ramblings) and don't forget to say hi on Twitter or Facebook.
Oh, and if you have any Web, graphic or hosting needs, feel free to ask. I just know I can help.
What an insane year!!!
I have just had a moment to reflect on what a crazy year this has been.
I looked after all the ICT and web for the creation of a new crown agency, competed in Startup Weekend (sadly did not win lol), formed a new company with an awesome bunch of crazy entrepeneurs (The Mobile Kombat team), won a heap more web awards and i have seen some fantastic movies!!
So while i madly finish off some projects i am working on so i can go on holiday, i thought i would list some of my fav things of the year so far.
Fav Movies: Captain America, Thor and Super 8 (oh, and i am expecting after next weekend i will be adding the Muppet Movie in there).
Fav Moments: Competing in the Wellington Startup Weekend, winning 2 WMA and 6 W3 Awards, My 16th Wedding Anniversary (probably should have put that one first) and of course spending some great time with my family!!
Fav Toy of the year: I hate to admit it (being the non-apple fan that i am) but my iPad is my new best friend.
Fav Comic this year: I am re-reading all of the old Justice League and Uncanny X-men this year and to date the best has been the Fall of the Mutant series in Uncanny X-Men.
Fav Websites built: hmmmm tricky one here because i love all of the websites i build. Probably my favourites this year though would be http://www.codliveroil.com.au, http://www.wirednz.co.nz and http://conference.educationnz.org.nz/
There you go for now, will add more later
Merry Christmas all!!
Trying to Convince the Wife we need to Pimp Our Ride
I saw this a while ago and have stumbled across it again. Seriously, the coolest Pimped out ride i have ever seen
http://walyou.com/x-wing-fighter-car-mod/
For some reason the wee wifey won't let me turn our trusty Rover into an X-Wing....I can't figure out why lol
There is a glimmer of hope though, once the kids have moved out we are planning to enter the Targa Rally and she has indicated she would not be completely opposed to buying a crappy car and Star-Wars-A-Fying it for the race :)
I would have to get a sound effects module installed....oh man......I can picture it now!!
Possibly the coolest desk in the world
and i sooooo want one!!!!!

It's a custome one off so unfortunately i can't run down to Freedom furniture and put one on layby....but how cool would that be. You would have extra incentive to have the clean desk policy so you can view its awesomeness at the end of each day :)
Mirror Mirror on the wall....
Every now and then you see something that is so pointless, yet so freakin awesome that you just have to share it.
Check this out, it is an interactive mirror that features motion sensor technology to let users run into a different world.
I am not a 100% sure of how it works (mainly cause the article was a little lite on details), but from what i can gather you can have interactive images and video running around you as you se your image....pretty cool huh!?!
Go here for slightly more info ;) http://www.inewidea.com/2011/06/25/38837.html
Star Wars is SEXY!!!!!
Non Star Wars fans (yes, both of you) have often asked about peoples obsession with the holy trilogy. Well peeps, i now have a difinitive answer for you.
Check these out and tell me you haven't turned to the dark side already ;)
The art you see here comes from artist Feng Zhu, who is an illustrator who does movie designs and cover art. He actually worked on the designs of the Star Wars Episode III, Revenge of the Sith for Lucasfilm.
